About The Book:
Chinua Achebe was the pioneer of African literature written in English. His novel “Things Fall Apart”, published in 1959, had won him International Booker Prize. Unremittingly tragic and heart-rendering, the story exposes the mindless conspiracies of colonialism, insanity of violence and the plight of Africans through Okonkwo, who was poor and humiliated as a child due to his father’s weakness. Okonkwo becomes prosperous, but fate and time have displaced Okonkwo from his centre- which had fallen apart due to British despotism. The night mare arrives when he kills the British messenger, and no clansmen support him. Things Fall Apart A Critical Reading provides a critical understanding of the text with selected excerpts, essays, themes, the author’s biography, resources and a glossary that are essential and no student of English literature can afford to ignore.
